ORCHID CITY SOFTWARE

SOMEONE STOP ME! I AM GIVING ALL MY WORK AWAY FREE.

Okay all you NRD545 owners who have been afraid to invest in
software for your receiver. Here's a FREE remote control
application you can use with your NRD545. It contains the
B04 HFCC schedules which are good until next year. There
may be a few that change, but the majority of the records
will allow you to listen to English or any other language
shortwave broadcasts from around the world.
Here's the details. The below link will allow you to download
a ZIP file to your computer. Unzip the file and run the Setup
program. The Setup program should load the application for
you automatically. Please let me know if you have problems.
If you do, it's probably the directory is wrong. The program
should end up in a Folder/directory called NRDB0401. If
that's not the way it is on your computer, change it manually.
Before the application will change your receiver, you must setup
the comm port (1 to 8), Baud Rate (4800) stop bits and other
settings. Check your operating manual for the details.
Click the "connect button" once the settings are entered.
That actual application is a little complicated at first, but
the learning curve takes the average person 30 seconds to learn.
As you scroll down the database, if your using the center button
on the left of the screen which says send record, the program will
send the frequency to your receiver to be setup and automatically
scroll down to the next record waiting for you to click again.
On the top left of the database scroll screen, there's two fields:
One field is for the "Time" in UTC and the field underneath is
for the language. Enter the time you want to check for i.e 1800
and then tab to the next field and enter the language you want
to listen to i.e Eng or EE or E or Englis. All those variations
were entered into the HFCC schedule. You can search for other
    times and languages too.
To the right of the screen is a key pad. This is a duplication of
the number pad on your computer keyboard. If the number lock is
on, just enter frequencies using your computer keypad into the
NRD545 receiver. You don't need to reach over and punch in the
    frequencies on the receiver.
Underneath the keypad are a number of sliding controls for the
various functions on the NRD545 receiver ie. PBS, BWC, AF, RF etc.
There's a number of additional keys that are selfexpanatory.
